To begin the process of becoming a volunteer, please create an account on
Ohio Responds - Volunteer Registry
After you have created an account with Ohio Responds, then be sure to check the box for MRC Portage County. Once this is completed, you will be registered as a community volunteer and your credentials are kept in our database for public health response. Volunteer activities may include:
- Staffing vaccination and/or pharmaceutical clinics
- Working at a shelter
- Staffing a volunteer reception center
- Clerical support for emergency responders
- First aid stations
- Welfare checks
- Educating the public
- Distribution of educational materials
- Blood pressure checks
- And, many more
What is the time commitment of being a volunteer?
You can participate in as little or as many trainings and exercises as you would like. Portage County requests that MRC attend at least one training or event per year. National MRC requires you to attend one training session every three years. Professional development classes held elsewhere can count for this requirement if a certificate of completion is forwarded to the MRC Coordinator.
